A Moment To Remember: Telling Our Stories Through Artifacts

A collection of memoirs by students from Benjamin Carson High School of Science and Medicine in Detroit, MI.

The book is a collection of brief memoirs, reflecting on the writers’ personal histories and cultures through objects that mark significant moments in their lives. Led in their process by 826michigan’s Sheena Crenshaw and their teacher Shannon Waite, students worked alongside acclaimed authors Aaron Foley, Lolita Hernandez, and Peter Ho Davies to craft powerful, sometimes hilarious, and often enduring accounts that highlight the depth, breadth, and unity within the human experience.

A Moment to Remember features twenty-three essays by high school students and a foreword by Angela Flournoy.
